At RaiseUp, we work with nonprofit organizations that help people who are suffering in some way, like young girls suffering in the life of sex trafficking or children who are suffering an impoverished life with little food and dying from preventable causes.

These nonprofit organizations are helping to give them the things they need, such as homes, education, clean water, and the list goes on. There are so many necessary physical things. Many are also providing what we feel is the MOST important need.

Hope!

It is hope! Many of the nonprofits are helping to bring hope to the people in need. The definition of hope is: a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.

But many things that we hope for can be uncertain and often lead to disappointment. For example, children may have hope that they get a meal tomorrow or that there sister (who is also their mother figure) doesn’t die from a simple case of diarrhea. Young girls may have hope that someone finds them and gets them out of the life of trafficking so that they don’t have to trade there body for sex multiple times a day. Or maybe just hope that they can just make it through the day.

But what if they had hope that was certain?! A hope that cannot disappoint?!

They can! There is hope for each and every one of them and for us … a hope that is very certain … the hope found in Jesus Christ. And this is the kind of hope that many nonprofits are bringing by sharing the truth found in God’s Word.

God sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to earth. And he gave that very son’s life on the cross. He sacrificed His son for us! After Jesus died on the cross, he rose again. When Jesus rose from the dead, it was a fulfillment to a promise from God and also showcased the amazing power of God.

What does this mean?

It means that God’s promises are alive in Jesus Christ and that we do not need to rely on our own strength to get through suffering or difficult times. We have the same power that raised Jesus from the dead available to us … we can lean on God’s strength! And if we choose to follow Jesus, we have the promise of eternal life. Now that is HOPE!

Reflect on these scriptures to remember just a couple of God’s many promises.
(and remember, His promises are TRUE!)

1 John 2:25 “This is the promise He Himself made to us — eternal life. Revelation 21:4 “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Philippians 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
