Today we want to feature one of the nonprofit organizations that can be supported with RaiseUp. (See our first post “What is RaiseUp?” to learn how nonprofit organizations work with RaiseUp.)

The organization we get to spend some time with today is the Fox Valley Jail Ministry (FVJM). You can support this organization through the cause of “Essential Needs”. Why Essential Needs you ask? Well, it’s a strong belief of the RaiseUp team that a relationship with Jesus is one of the most important essential needs.

The Fox Valley Jail Ministry works within the 500+ bed, maximum security Outagamie County Jail in Appleton, Wisconsin. Rather than hearing from us about what they do, we wanted to go to the source and ask FVJM some questions. So let’s meet David Meyers, Chaplain of FVJM, as he shares his heart about his organization.

RU – Hi Dave, how would you best describe your organization?
FVJM – We spread Christ to those incarcerated. The four avenues in which we do that are 1. Courses 2. One-on- one counseling 3. Materials 4. Aftercare once they are released

RU – Can you share a highlight that you’ve experienced while working with your organization?
FVJM – The transformation of someone from darkness to newness in Christ. This is a remarkable process, which Christ works, but it is remarkable with every transformation. He is the Savior who takes them from where they were to protection and peace.

RU – Is there anything you can share about the impact that you have been able to make to date?FVJM – The reward of having another surrendered to Christ is the reward of the work. There are many who are searching and who are now affecting others. When you think of the effect of a father, and many of the incarcerated are fathers, and then when you think of children having a father back, and the leader of the house back, there is a compound continuation of the effect that cannot be measured. The most essential is they now have eternal security with Christ.

RU – Wow, I hope none of you readers missed this one. Read that again if you need to! This can change the legacy of an entire family tree.

RU – What are you currently working to do?
FVJM – We want to expand the work and extend the 4 services we are offering to surrounding areas.

RU – Besides raising funds, what else can people do to help your organization and the people you are helping?
FVJM – Prayer. That is the most necessary. Christ can accomplish whatever He wants, so we have assurance that He is over everything. We just want to make sure our hearts are on track with His.

RU – What else would you like those who are reading this to know?

FVJM – The purchases that you make with RaiseUp matter less than the heart you have for the work that is being done. What is your heart when you make the purchase? Love is the height of our existence.

RU – Love this last answer. It resonates well with the heart and mission of RaiseUp, too.

Thanks for sharing, Dave! And thank you to you and your organization for all the work that you do to share Christ and help change the lives of so many inmates. May God be over the work that you do!

It is amazing to see God’s grace fill this community and world! Thank you Jesus for the work you’re doing through Dave and the team at FVJM and most importantly those that do not yet know You and the love you poured out for them. May God’s peace cover you no matter your circumstance as our hope is in Him and eternal things. Thank you Jesus for laying your life down, so through You we can be with the Father! The best news I have and will ever know.
